From Packaging to Purpose: Royal Umbrella’s Upcycling Workshops

From Packaging to Purpose

In the final quarter of 2025, Royal Umbrella and Topseller brought together elderly residents, young students, and passionate volunteers in a series of initiatives that turned everyday materials into meaningful connections.

In partnership with Green Sproutz Singapore, Royal Umbrella organised upcycling workshops at two St Luke’s ElderCare Centres – in Jurong East and Chong Pang – where participants transformed used Royal Umbrella rice packaging into handcrafted mini bags. The workshops were made possible through the dedication of Topseller’s staff volunteers, alongside enthusiastic student participants from Bukit View Secondary School and Admiralty Primary School.

More than a craft activity, the workshops created rare and genuine moments of intergenerational exchange – young students working side by side with elderly residents, sharing skills, stories, and laughter. At the same time, the initiative delivered a practical sustainability message: that materials we discard every day can be given new life with a little creativity and care.

In a parallel gesture of community support, Topseller also prepared and personally distributed 300 goodie bags to beneficiaries at St Luke’s ElderCare Centre in Ayer Rajah – a simple but heartfelt expression of appreciation for the seniors in our community.

Together, these initiatives reflect PSC’s belief that sustainability and community care are most powerful when they are experienced together – not as corporate programmes, but as shared human moments.
